Woke up this morning to find not only Ciel's tail looking like a bunny rabbit, but also poor Duque's had his tail eaten AGAIN. This time Ossian has managed to swallow the tail extensions put on to Duque last year, to ensure he can reach the flies. With Ellen's help, Duque now has some brand new striking black and white extensions, and Ossian has been removed to Domingo's paddock where he is unable to eat tails (Domingo wont let him near his back end: I dont blame him). Photos of Caballo Blanco trendy extensions to follow. We are currently trying to decide what colour extensions for Ciel. Any ideas??.

I came to spend a month at Caballo Blanco. Andalucia, Spain, to try something completely different. I had never really ridden or had anything to do with horses before, but was attracted by the idea of coming to spend some time living in the mountains in such a beautiful part of the world. Since I have been here I have been really enjoying getting to know the horses, learning how to look after them and helping out with the day to day running of the farm. I love walking, and have been out exploring the beautiful countryside surrounding the farm. On days off I have tried to go a bit further afield. Caballo Blanco is set in a walkers and riders paradise and it is easy to get up high into the Sierra Nevada. This week I spent 3 days walking in the snow, staying in one of the refugios, tucked high into the mountains and even climbing the magnificant Mulhacen, mainland Spain's tallest mountain. I am sad to say that at the end of this week my time here is up and I will be moving on, but I will take with me lots of memories and I know that this is somewhere I will definately come back to! Check out the Working Holidays at the stables! A cheap way of enjoying horses in this most beautiful part of the world.

Thanks so much to you all for your kindness and patience [and the boots!!], not having ridden for ten years, there was a feeling of trepidation as well as huge excitement at the opportunity. Every second was terrific, and am now inspired to get back in the saddle again here at home. Not that it will compare with the the [short] time with you. The bonus was managing to dismount and stand!!!!!!!. Hope to see you again for a longer ride or trek. The area you have chosen is truly wonderful. ps special thanks to Lucero, what a gent x
I've had a great time with you. I miss the horses already! I really want to come back, maybe I will come in summer, but I am not sure yet. In Holland the school exams are starting tomorrow. And in a copple of week the English exam. How are Aska en Bruno? They were so sweet. Can you still get me my working reference, so I can use it for my Curriculaeum Vitae. I hope to see you again in summer! Kind regards, Miek from Holland

We set off last week towards the highest mountain in Spain to camp out with our horses... The Rose family: François, Noëlie, Louise, Antoine, Stanislas and Angèle, and our 'Working Hols' lass, Catherine, rode high into the Sierra Nevada to camp out. We were blessed with 3 days of fab weather, and the horses were raring to go, despite carrying both us and our gear. What an amazing family! Especially 9 year old Angèle who rode Megan so well! Thanks to Catherine for jumping in at the deep end, and being sooo much help.
